I did not have the radio on this morning when my kids got on the bus. Frankly, I did not even realize the lack of noise.
I was about halfway through my route, when through the silence, yes, I said silence, one of my third grade boys, in a very loud voice, said, “Stop being quiet, the silence is too loud.”
His outburst broke whatever spell the rest of my students were under. The “loud silence” rapidly became very quiet—or something like that.
That is too much profound thought this early in the morning.
