She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not

“Mrs. Mileti! I have a girlfriend, and I kissed her!”  Exclaimed Jackson, one of my fifth grade boys.

“You do?  How wonderful!  What is her name?” I asked him.

“I don’t know, but she is my sister’s friends’s sister.”  He replied.

“You kissed her, and you don’t know her name?”  I asked him.

“I have a girlfriend too!”  Trevor, one of my second grade boys, chimes in, adding to the conversation.

“You do too?  Do you know YOUR girlfriends name?”  I asked Trevor.

“Yep, her name is Savannah.”  He said.

“Oh, what a pretty name, is she as pretty as her name?”  I asked him.

“Yes, she’s very pretty!”  Trevor replied.

“You should kiss her.”  Interjects Jackson.

“I already tried that, and it didn’t turn out so well, she slapped my face when I did.”  Said Trevor

Poor, Trevor!  I don’t know if I should be proud of the girl or saddened for my lovelorn second grader.  Hmm…maybe a bit of both.  🙂
